seijin0201, is it not possible to deposit online or through a wire transfer after the account is setup? Or do you need to travel to the US every time you want to deposit and made an OCP?
I had to physically go to a TD branch to open my brokerage account. After it was set up I was able to trade abroad as a non-resident.
I also find it incredibly annoying that they do this, at the very least it makes your Computershare account needlessly complex. I try and sell my certificated shares as soon as I can to clean up my account.
The single share, however, does .....
I opened a TD brokerage account and subsequently starting DRIPing while living abroad as a non-resident a few years ago. There are more headaches but it's possible. Search the board for more info.
The single common stock share is included in your DRIP plan and functions the same as shares bought through an OCP.
You can sell/transfer the single share (see share exchange board) and continue to DRIP using the additional shares .....
I thought everything was set up and ready to go but I received a letter today from PNC stating they cannot open a new account as they "cannot meet the new customer account verifications under the USA Patriot Act."
